On Thursday, November 2, 2017, at 8:40 a.m., police responded to a call for a personal injury collision at The West Mall, south of Paxman Road.
It is reported that:
- a man, 37, was driving a 2008 Honda Civic northbound on The West Mall, south of Paxman Road
- a man, 36, was driving a 2004 Honda Civic southbound on The West Mall, south of Paxman Road
- for reasons not yet determined, the northbound Honda Civic crossed into the southbound lanes and collided with the southbound Honda Civic
The driver of the northbound Honda Civic was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

On Saturday, November 4, 2017, the man, 37, was pronounced in hospital.
