On Monday, April 24, 2017, the Toronto Police Service released a Request for Information (RFI) to gather feedback from third parties interested in operating all or some of the Crossing Guard program.

The intent of this RFI is solely to gather information from qualified and experienced service providers concerning the possible delivery of the School Crossing Guard program. In the event there is sufficient interest, ability and feasibility of third-party delivery of the program, the TPS may, but is not obligated to, initiate a competitive bidding opportunity.

Interested parties are invited to go to MERX to review the RFI. Please note that all information must be obtained through the formal procurement process as outlined on MERX. Questions can only be directed to Purchasing Services at 416-808-7997.

On January 26, 2017, the Transformational Task Force delivered its final report to the Toronto Police Services Board that includes preliminary recommendations about the desired future policing model. At its meeting of February 23, 2017, the Board considered and adopted the report recommendations as the TPS's 2017-2019 Business Plan. The report recommended that the TPS explore alternative service delivery of the School Crossing Guard program.

More information about the Transformational Task Force can be found here or by calling Sandra Buckler at 416-808-8034.
